Lesson 7

I am speaking
We are speaking
You are  speaking
You are speaking
He is speaking
They are speaking
She

We use the present continuous when we want to say that something is happening right now.

We use it with action verbs such as go, run, play. We don’t use it with verbs such as know, want or need because these are not action verbs.

We use the present continuous in about 7% of sentences in spoken English.

I speak English. It means that I can speak English. It is my ability.

I am speaking English. It means that I am speaking English right now. I am opening my mouth and words are coming out of my mouth.
Examples
